A tribute to the carvers

The park opened in 1998 beside the Santa Bárbara chapel. It grew out of a stone-carving festival organised by the Fundación José María Delgado to honour local carvers and their indigenous-rooted craft.

Sculptors from the region and eleven countries carved large stones with one rule: water had to be able to flow through them.

What you’ll find

A stone path lined with the 22 works, inspired by indigenous mythology, with a small artificial stream running between them.

There’s an open-air stone theatre and terraces for taking in the Río Suárez canyon at your own pace.

Planning note Pair it with the Santa Bárbara chapel, or visit before heading down the Camino Real.

Getting there and back

  1. Walkable; it’s close to the start of the Camino Real.
  2. Opening hours: check locally.

Safety

  • Stone steps can be slippery after rain.
